Overview Posh Peanut is hiring for a Controller in their Glendale, CA headquarters to lead the next round of growth. This hands‑on Controller will lead accounting and financial operations in an established CPG company. The ideal candidate has strong experience with direct‑to‑consumer (DTC) and apparel businesses, brings expertise in inventory accounting, and thrives in a cross‑functional environment. This role requires a detail‑oriented leader who can manage the close process, produce accurate and timely financial reporting, rolling 13‑week cash flow forecasts, and provide insights to drive strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Month‑End Close: Lead and execute all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

Cash Flow Management: Build, update, and manage a 13‑week rolling cash flow forecast; monitor liquidity and working capital, providing sensitivity analysis.

Variance Analysis: Prepare monthly budget vs. actual variance reports, investigate discrepancies, and provide recommendations to leadership.

Ad Hoc Financial Analysis: Partner with management to deliver scenario models, profitability analysis, and decision‑support reporting.

Inventory Accounting: Manage end‑to‑end inventory accounting including reconciliations, costing, reserves, and controls.

Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop, maintain, and document policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.

Audit & Tax Support: Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to support annual audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, merchandising, supply chain, and marketing teams to ensure alignment of financial reporting with business activities.

Systems & Process Improvement: Optimize accounting systems, ERP processes, and department workflows to improve efficiency and scalability, ensuring accuracy in data and reporting across the organization.

Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor a small accounting team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and professional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

5–7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience; prior Controller or Assistant Controller role strongly preferred.

Experience in Consumer‑Packaged Goods (CPG) required; DTC and apparel industry experience strongly preferred.

Proven knowledge of inventory accounting and cost management.

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Hands‑on proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar).

Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.

Ability to work cross‑functionally and communicate effectively with non‑financial teams.

Detail‑oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.

Systems and ERP experience required; Fulfil.io a plus.
