Friends of Angaza Nuru
Friends of Angaza Nuru (FAN) is a small but impactful and growing nonprofit dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the children of Bodoi, Kenya through scholarships, nutrition, and community support. We are seeking a Treasurer to join our collaborative Board of Directors.
Role Description This is a volunteer remote role for a Treasurer. The Treasurer is a Board position responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with nonprofit standards, overseeing fundraising, and creating reports for the Board. This is an unpaid volunteer role requiring about 5–10 hours per month.
Responsibilities
Manage donor and donation records in DonorSnap
Oversee sending of donor thank-you emails and prepare year-end donor financial statements
Import financial information into QuickBooks and perform monthly bank reconciliation
Wire monthly funds to Kenya to fulfill grant requirements
Supervise and help manage all fundraising campaigns
Prepare and present monthly financial report to the Board
Lead team in Annual Report creation
Work with the Board to create the yearly budget (currently $70k)
Complete yearly nonprofit financial filings with IRS and Tennessee SOS
Qualifications
Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management
Nonprofit or previous Treasurer experience a plus
Well‑versed in Excel and Google Sheets
Familiarity with QuickBooks and/or donor management systems (or willingness to learn)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively and remotely
