About Minnesota Minx Football: The Minnesota Minx are a nonprofit women’s tackle football team competing in the American Women’s Football League (AWFL). It is the mission of the Minx to provide an inclusive, safe, accessible, and uplifting community for womxn to develop, engage, and showcase their athletic, organizational, and leadership skills.
The Treasurer is the finance & accounting department for the team. They are responsible for budgeting the income and expenses for the organization to ensure financial stability. They are accountable for depositing the income from dues, fundraisers, and sponsors. They manage the team bank accounts and pay expenses in a timely manner. The Treasurer is responsible for sponsor relationships in so far as to ensure that it is an equitable arrangement for both parties. They are an active and engaged member of the Fundraising Committee. They are the main contact for the Minnesota Minx regarding financial, non-profit, and legal issues. The Treasurer should be familiar with finance and accounting methods and tools, especially MS Excel. They should be attentive to detail and be judicious with the team’s funds. The Treasurer shall provide relevant financial reporting at each board meeting, will help to develop fundraising plans, and make financial information available to board members and the public.
They are responsible for developing and reviewing fiscal procedures and any major changes to the budget, which shall be reviewed by the Board of Directors or executive committee. In general, they will perform all duties incident to the office of treasurer and such other duties as may be required by law, by the articles of incorporation of the corporation, or by these bylaws, or which may be assigned to them from time to time by the Board of Directors. Additional duties are as follows:
Maintain knowledge of the organization and personal commitment to its goals and objectives
Understand financial accounting for nonprofit organizations
Serve as financial officer of the organization and as head of the finance committee
Manage, with the finance committee (if established), the board's review and action related to the board's financial responsibilities
Prepare the annual budget and present the budget to the board for approval - update on a regular basis
Report on the balance sheet, statements, and projected/actual cash flow
Deposit income from dues, fundraisers, and sponsors
Balance the bank account
Pay invoices and bills
Communicate with sponsors and fundraising organizations
Maintain team’s non-profit designation (can be delegated to President)
Consult with a team attorney on legal issues and/or risks
Advise on financial implications of requests for funds from executive committee or team members
Review the annual audit, as required by law, and answer board members' questions about the audit
This person should not be a player or coach for capacity consideration
