Summary:
Early Childhood Development Specialist - Join our Early Intervention Day Treatment center to support young children with developmental delays or disabilities. In this role, you will provide individualized instruction, assist with therapy goals, ensure a safe and engaging environment, and work closely with families and team members to promote each child's growth, independence, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates a mastery level of each child's curriculum outcomes and can articulate these to teacher assistants and parents.
Actively contributes to the development of improved curriculum to achieve plan of care outcomes, child growth and development, and kindergarten readiness indicators.
Maintains a classroom climate conducive to learning and active engagement in activities.
Continuously plans learning activities that recognize the different needs, abilities, and skills necessary for effective participation of children.
Collaborates with therapists, nursing staff, and parents to create Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs).
Provides continuous monitoring and recording of child mastery level concepts.
Prepares and completes all plans of care for each child on caseload.
Implies Individual Treatment Plans and monitors behavior management systems and individualized behavior intervention plans as needed.
Reports child progress to parents accurately and professionally.
Conducts developmental screenings as scheduled or requested.
Facilitates smooth transition to public school by scheduling conferences with families and appropriate school districts.
Reviews and approves day habilitation notes in Credible for accuracy each day.
Demonstrates ability to disaggregate test data and determine instructional focus for each child.
Directly supervises, engages with, and teaches all children in classrooms throughout the day.
Establishes and maintains classroom schedules and environments that meet ITERS/ECERS standards.
Utilizes positive behavior guidance and classroom management techniques in accordance with DHS/DDS regulations and FCC guidelines.
Communicates effectively with program administrators and teacher assistants to ensure compliance.
Plan and organize parent/family involvement events and maintain regular communications with parents.
Assists with nursing duties such as medication administration after training.
Supports acquisition of professional development hours and certification in Infant/Toddler CPR, First Aid, and OSHA.
Maintains confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care and its clients.
Conducts regular staff meetings and reports any abuse/neglect signs promptly.
Performs supervisory duties such as identifying teacher assistant strengths and conducting evaluations.
Qualifications
Documentation: Bachelor's degree (B.S or B.A) from a four-year college or university.
Credentials: Child Development Associate credential, Birth to PreK credential, or documented experience working with special needs children.
Coursework: 12 hours of completed college coursework in early childhood, child development, special education, elementary education, or child/family studies.
Experience: Supervisory skills and experience with early childhood or special education settings.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and governmental regulations; present information effectively to groups.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled form.
Physical Demands: Ability to use hands, stand, walk, reach, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and handle sensory and light hazards.
