Job Description Continuous Improvement Engineer, Composites Manufacturing

Location:

Rock Hill, SC A day in the life

You walk the production floor of our composites facility in Rock Hill, SC, stopping at a visual board where yesterday’s takt time variance is posted. With operators and team leads, you facilitate a quick stand-up, discuss 5S findings, and kick off a focused Kaizen to remove a bottleneck in a layup cell. By mid-morning, you’re mapping a value stream to plan a pull system using Kanban. After lunch, you update standard work, run a short SPC review to verify capability improvements, and coach a cross-functional team through an A3. Before you leave, you document the ROI from a recent error-proofing project and schedule an audit to ensure gains are sustained. About Composite Resources and Re:Build Manufacturing

Re:Build CR, LLC (Composite Resources) designs and manufactures high-performance composite parts and tooling for demanding applications, notably in aerospace and defense. We value teamwork, ownership, and accountability, and we move fast. Re:Build Manufacturing is a growing group of industrial and engineering companies. We pair enabling technologies with strong operations and strategic M&A to create the next wave of American industrial strength. Our experts in engineering, operations management, and technology elevate the performance of our businesses through a candid, principle-driven operating system. It’s a high-velocity environment where people stretch, learn, and realize their potential. Our purpose is to help revitalize U.S. manufacturing. We integrate capabilities that start with build-to-print production and by-the-hour engineering/design services and extend into complex program execution and, increasingly, our own product platforms. Customers rely on us for product and systems design, automation, fabrication, assembly, and large-scale contract manufacturing across markets such as aerospace, defense, mobility, healthcare, pharma, biotech, clean tech, chemicals, energy, lifestyle, food production, and industrial equipment. What you will tackle

Drive continuous improvement using 5S, A3 problem-solving, visual controls, standard work, Kanban, and waste elimination. Plan and facilitate Kaizen events that lift safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. Develop process layouts and clear job instructions to enable lean flow. Increase process capability with variation reduction, error-proofing, and SPC. Map/document processes, surface gaps, and implement corrective actions. Use operational data to inform decisions and prioritize improvements. Build cost–benefit cases for changes and track realized ROI. Teach and mentor multi-functional teams in Lean principles and tools. Lead value stream mapping and long-horizon transformation roadmaps. Ensure sustainment via audits, coaching, and documented standards. Align CI objectives with business strategy through cross-functional collaboration. Model integrity, trust, ownership, and high ethical standards in every interaction. What you bring

BS in an engineering discipline and 3+ years in manufacturing (or equivalent

education/experience). 3–5 years applying Lean in production environments; Six Sigma experience is a plus. Analytical, organized problem-solver with strong follow-through. Self-starter who collaborates well and is passionate about continuous learning and improvement. The payoff
