You will be the Manager of Fighter Airworthiness for the Fighter Airworthiness Team. Our team is responsible for achieving and maintaining airworthiness certification, flight clearances, and continued airworthiness for the F‑16, F‑22, and F‑35 fleets. We ensure U.S. and international accreditation for flight test, production, and sustainment programs through coordinated strategy, planning, and continuous improvement activities. What You Will Be Doing
As the Manager of Fighter Airworthiness, you will lead a high performing group of 20 engineers and specialists and act as the primary liaison between Lockheed Martin, the Joint Program Office (JPO), and external customers. Your responsibilities will include: Defining and executing airworthiness strategy and planning to secure government certifications for flight test, production, and sustainment milestones. Driving cross functional coordination with LM and JPO program offices, Vehicle Systems, Mission Systems, Chief Engineer Office, FSD/JTD, Production, Contracts, and the Flight Line to align proposals, contractual requirements, and airworthiness processes. Managing team performance, including staffing, training, development, and performance management activities for a diverse, 20 person team. Leading submittal and clearance efforts, ensuring timely delivery of documentation and approvals that support flight clearance milestones and international accreditation. Implementing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and sustain compliance with evolving regulations. Direct experience with advanced fighter aircraft airworthiness programs. Familiarity with Program Office (PO) processes and government certification requirements. Experience with continuous‑improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.). Advanced degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related discipline. Strong analytical and business‑acumen skills; ability to interpret technical data and translate it into actionable plans. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities; adept at fostering collaboration across functional areas.
