The Opportunity

Focus on large‑scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects, delivering projects by leading significant portions of a variety of facilities through design, construction and startup phases as a technical specialist or lead.

Hands‑on involvement in developing reports or technical memos, completing studies, detailed designs, specifications, collaborating to complete cost estimates and preparing contract documents.

Participation in scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration for infrastructure projects, including business development and preparation of proposals.

Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.

Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects and communicate those concerns to project team members.

Key Responsibilities

Perform design of projects from conceptual and bid phases through design completion.

Assist the Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules, budgets and managing sub‑consultants.

Interface directly with clients or sub‑consultants under the Engineering Manager’s direction.

Support business development through writing technical approaches, scopes of work and presentations to clients.

Apply knowledge of civil concepts, codes and procedures within the water engineering industry to complex projects.

Develop non‑standard design solutions and provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.

Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines and project teams.

Prepare complex engineering deliverables, calculations and conduct independent evaluations of engineering techniques.

Review engineering work performed by early‑career professionals.

Oversee data management, lead small production teams and serve as project charge when required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

Licensed PE or actively pursuing PE registration.

Thorough understanding of water and wastewater design (e.g., infrastructure, conveyance, pump stations / lift stations).

Ability and motivation to lead portions of complex projects with guidance and mentorship.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.

Minimum 5 years of related work experience.

Certifications Professional engineering registration is preferred or in active pursuit.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance and assignments.

Typical office and construction environments; exposure to extreme weather, high noise, safety hazards (electric currents, scaffolding, high places, chemicals), atmospheric conditions.

Physical requirements include sitting, walking, talking, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods and lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
