Full Time Faculty – Nursing-Maternal Newborn/Pediatric The Full‑time Faculty member is a faculty position with exempt status. Reporting to the Department Chair, this non‑tenure track full‑time faculty position is expected to provide academic instruction to degree, certificate, and non‑degree learners. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development and oversight, committee work, and maintaining a program of scholarship, continued learning, and/or practice within their area of expertise and specialization. Full‑time faculty are expected to support department and school leadership in terms of recommendations on program and course design, the assessment of student learning in accordance with university standards, and the execution of data‑informed and high‑quality learning experiences within courses. The position will benefit the University by aligning courses and programs with accreditation requirements, serving as a model by providing rigorous oversight of course development and revisions, and facilitating student learning and success in support of the University’s academic programs. Faculty are expected to show a willingness to take on essential roles and duties as needed within the department, school, university, and as directed by leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Student‑focused educator committed to student learning, retention, persistence, and completion.

Teach 10‑12 courses (30‑36 credits per year) and advance student learning through exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines, university standards, and external benchmarks of quality.

Design courses, deliver instruction, evaluate student learning, and incorporate university‑required technology.

Implement a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs, desired learner outcomes, content, and context.

Assist students to master course material by being available through office hours and at other times to answer questions and support one‑on‑one or small group sessions.

Use information technologies and eLearning technology to support the teaching‑learning process.

Lead and/or coordinate the development or revision of courses, serving as a subject matter expert for course development projects and continuous quality improvement.

Review courses on an ongoing basis using course data to improve student learning and success outcomes.

Participate in program improvement initiatives, including university‑established program reviews, supporting the department to improve program performance.

Participate in program and university accreditation, curriculum development, and program assessment.

Participate in scheduled institutional/unit meetings and activities.

Serve on taskforces and/or committees.

Adhere to all policies specified in the Faculty Handbook and serve as a model to other faculty.

Complete university‑required compliance training in a timely manner.

Perform other appropriate and reasonably required duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Institutional and Professional Service

Serve on at least one faculty or university committee annually (after the first year of hire).

Attend all required university events such as commencement, faculty meetings, etc.

Contribute to professional development activities, both departmental and university‑wide.

Participate in activities supporting the University’s strategic plan and the goals of the university.

Provide subject matter assistance to advising, and in collaboration with the academic advisors provide academic guidance to students.

Provide professional assistance to instructional faculty, staff, and students.

Promote and coordinate student professional organizations.

Support community and industry relationships, including support for project partnerships and student opportunities.

Comply with published university Policies and Procedures.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on the development and assessment of program and course outcomes.

Professional Development & Research

Participate in professional development activities, both departmental and university‑wide.

Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and innovate effective teaching/learning strategies.

Pursue furthering of domain knowledge and academic skills through scholarly activities by attending professional conferences, publishing papers or articles, etc.

Engage in ongoing professional development, especially activities that advance student engagement, learning, and equity.

Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.

Qualifications

Experience teaching a range of undergraduate and graduate courses and other courses as assigned in alignment with academic qualifications, with at least one year of experience teaching courses related to Maternal‑Newborn/Pediatric Nursing.

Ability to assume responsibilities for teaching didactic content and virtual simulation in Maternal‑Newborn/Pediatric Nursing.

Terminal degree required.

Experience teaching across multiple modalities and leveraging strengths of each to inform instructional practice.

Commitment to interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration and a successful track record of working across disciplines to support the development of program pathways from associate to doctoral degrees.

The hiring salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $90,000.00.
