Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Department Manager (DM) to join our growing Construction Engineering & Inspection team in Eastern NY. We are seeking candidates for our Albany and Newburgh office locations. The DM is responsible for the professional, technical, management, marketing, administrative and financial aspects of their discipline. They manage the department to provide cost effective services to various project managers, staff, and other employees within a specific region(s). Join our Construction Engineering & Inspection professionals who oversee project construction from pre-construction through finalization with a track record for cost and schedule containment. Our licensed engineers and certified construction staff have extensive on-the-job experience in supervision, observation, safety review and inspection with ongoing training that ensures required daily schedules are adhered to and all materials are procured and constructed according to plans and specifications. This experience includes heavy highway, single and multi-span bridges, intersection and traffic signal improvements, marine improvements, railroad upgrades, water / wastewater transmission, and park and recreation construction. Responsibilities

Provide leadership, strategic / managerial direction, and guidance to achieve established financial and growth goals for the discipline. Responsible for the overall productivity, profitability, client satisfaction, and quality of work throughout the discipline. Develop, execute, and lead discipline marketing and business development strategies in collaboration with the Corporate Marketing and Business Development teams. Responsible for fostering staff professional development, monitoring staffing / recruiting activity, and effectively managing employee relations. Manage the performance of all assigned staff, conduct performance evaluations, provide input for all raise and bonus discussions. Develop the skills and abilities of staff for successful execution of work duties; serve as a mentor and coach. Active involvement with recruiting and talent acquisition. Serve as project manager and be a resource for staff on assigned projects; manage completion of projects regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget. Prepare proposals and contracts for projects. Collaborate with other firms in pursuit of opportunities and manage subconsultant contracts. Qualifications

Associate and/or bachelor’s degree in a related field such as civil engineering, engineering technology, or construction management is preferred. 10+ years of construction engineering / inspection experience in or around NYSDOT Agency or local agency projects is preferred. 7+ years of experience with preparing proposals, developing budgets, tracking budgets and the associated financial management skills necessary to run a team and monitor the performance of the business. PE license is preferred. Demonstrated effective leadership across large groups of employees. Excellent communication skills. Effective strategic thinking and delegation skills. Ability to work with others, especially when difficult. Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions. Compensation:

$132,300-$190,600 (depending on qualifications) What We Offer
