Job Summary
The Associate Engineer reports to the Manager of Engineering and plays a key role in developing and implementing in‑service modifications, repairs, and other solutions to enhance aircraft reliability and operational excellence. Their job involves ensuring aircraft safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulations. They work closely with other engineers, technicians, and specialists to design and develop new aircraft and improve existing ones. Essential Responsibilities
Technical writing – understand and generate clear and efficient work instructions. Analyze and record component failures to improve airworthiness, time on wing, and reduce financial costs. Support peers in developing predictive digital diagnostics and monitoring strategies that improve overall operational reliability. Design, develop, and test solutions for aircraft systems. Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure aircraft safety, performance, and efficiency. Create and review technical documentation for aircraft systems and structures. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and specialists to optimize aircraft performance. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for aircraft projects. Monitor and maintain aircraft systems to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for aircraft system requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline; or a High School Diploma/GED with at least three (3) years of related experience providing aircraft engineering and technical support in an airline environment. Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Python, Excel, and SQL. Technical writing – ability to understand and generate clear and efficient work instructions. Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Project). Ability to interpret sophisticated technical and OEM documents. Reliability analysis skills to identify root causes of systems problems. Excellent decision‑making and problem‑solving skills. Availability for a flexible work schedule, including shifts, weekends, and holidays. Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking). Must acquire and maintain a valid SIDA badge. Available for overnight travel (20%). Must pass a pre‑employment drug test. Legally eligible to work in the U.S. No visa sponsorship. Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Working knowledge of FARs governing aircraft certification and maintenance. Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. Airbus experience. Experience with general ATA chapters covering aircraft systems, structures, powerplant, and avionics. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Power Apps. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Project management skills. Crewmember Expectations
Regular attendance and punctuality. Availability for flexible hours and short‑notice response. Professional appearance. The base pay range for this position is $65,000 to $90,000 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, a crewmember stock purchase plan, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free in‑flight travel on JetBlue, and more.
