Responsibilities The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has graduated from an NP graduate program, has advanced, specialized clinical knowledge and skills to provide health care. The NP performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease. The NP promotes health and the prevention of illness and injury. The NP practices autonomously and collaborates with other health care professionals to treat and manage patient health problems. The NP’s roles include direct patient/family care, consultation, research, patient/family/group/community advocacy, performance improvement, and leadership & professional development.
The Physician Assistant (PA), under the direction of a supervising Physician, is responsible for providing age‑specific, culturally and ethnically sensitive clinical evaluations, problem assessments, initiation of diagnostic and treatment plans, and educating patients presenting for care. Performs emergency intervention and patient triage, complies with all licensing regulations, and maintains continuing medical education. By the end of the first year, the PA requires M.D. consultation less than 40% of the time on patient management activities. Other duties include patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, leadership, and professional development.
NP Qualifications
Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse (RPN) is required
Current Georgia Authorization/Certification as a NP (Advanced Practice Registered Professional Nurse) is required
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
Master's Degree in Nursing from the Georgia Board of Nursing graduate program is required
Previous experience in the area of specialty preferred
PA Qualifications
Current graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program and certification is required
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) and AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required
Previous experience in the area of specialty preferred
