Job Description L3Harris Technologies Company is a world‑recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space, missile defense, strategic, tactical missile, and armaments customers worldwide. We offer a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion. Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful rural Orange County (1.5 hrs from Washington DC) is growing! This site is our center of excellence for solid rocket motor propulsion and energetics development as well as high‑complexity production programs.

Essential Functions

Work performed under limited supervision.

Must be experienced in OSHA 1910 General Industry.

Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments.

Assist in accident investigations and recommend corrective actions.

Conduct routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate non‑compliance issues.

Manage projects related to energetics and safety; including participation in incident investigation, risk management, and process hazard analysis.

Conduct training and communication campaigns to raise site‑wide awareness.

Serve as interface and liaison with employees, managers, customers, auditors, and regulators.

Some travel required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Safety Engineering experience.

Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Safety Engineering experience.

In lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of prior Safety Engineering experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

Master’s degree preferred.

5 years’ experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

5 years’ experience in OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry.

Experience in OSHA 29 CFR 1926 desired.

Strong knowledge of standards, OSHA, OSHA PSM, NFPA, NEC, and ANSI including familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Experience in project management.

Excellent problem‑solving skills.

Highly self‑motivated and analytical with excellent communication skills.

Interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross‑function/cross‑site teams.

Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

Read and understand facility site schematics and building design plans.

Working knowledge of DoD 4145.26M desired.

Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Process Safety Management (PSM).

Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS software such as ArcGIS and ArcMap.

Knowledgeable in munitions, explosives, energetics, and related disciplines.

High level of communication skills and understanding of escalation requirements to higher authorities.

Experience and/or training knowledge of confined spaces, fall protection, lock‑out tag‑out, machine guarding, electrical safety NFPA 70E and propellant energetics & pyrotechnics.
