About the Position Under the general direction of the Deputy Division Chief for the Division of Local Assistance, the incumbent will lead and manage the Office of State Programs, overseeing multiple functional branches and a large portfolio of statewide projects. Responsibilities include:
Lead and manage program delivery, project oversight, and technical support for complex engineering issues.
Develop and implement strategic investment metrics and performance measures.
Ensure alignment with departmental goals, state and federal funding requirements, and promote operational efficiency.
Allocate funds, coordinate programming and funding recommendations, and develop policy guidance for the Office.
Provide proactive oversight of local agencies to ensure program effectiveness.
Support data‑driven decision making and high‑level policy and planning decisions.
Minimum Requirements
Valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
One year of transportation engineering experience as a senior level engineer in California state service, OR
One year of supervisory or managerial experience in a senior transportation planner role in state service AND two years at the associate engineer level or higher, OR
Broad experience (> 5 years) with at least two years equivalent to senior transportation engineer in state service.
