Scientist / Senior Scientist, Analytical Development
JLSa2 is a new and recently launched seed‑stage venture backed company located in South San Francisco. The company focuses on developing novel multifunctional protein‑drug conjugate therapies for human metabolic diseases and other non‑oncology related conditions.
Responsibilities
Support analytical development activities of novel conjugates during transition from discovery into clinical development, primarily for physicochemical assays and pre‑clinical formulation.
Contribute to research efforts throughout the developmental lifecycle of conjugates.
Work in a highly collaborative team across the conjugation, purification, and functional assay teams, as well as senior leadership, to ensure data integration and rapid decision making.
Position is expected on site at our SSF facility.
Qualifications
PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field and 5+ years of industry experience in biologic conjugates OR
BS/MS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field and 10+ years of industry experience in biologic conjugates.
Strong background in analytics of bioconjugates (SEC, RP‑HPLC, cIEF, PAGE) with attention to detail and database systems for sample and data management.
Experience with ELISA, SPR, oligonucleotides and/or peptides beneficial.
Proficiency in hands‑on lab work and managing activities; experience designing experiments and reviewing data.
Strong technical writing skills and experience working with contract research/development organizations.
Experience with IND enabling studies, regulatory filings, protein expression & purification preferred.
Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor; prior experience managing direct reports preferred.
Flexibility to work on multiple projects in a fast‑paced start‑up environment is essential.
Good communication skills are essential.
Salary Range $120,000 - $160,000 (could fall outside of stated range).
