Specialty: Wound Care Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks Hours: 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Responsibilities
Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence related care. Perform focused physical assessments and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis and individual client needs. Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate. Develop, revise and evaluate standards of care; assist in the selection of supplies, technology and equipment. Assess and document patient response to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula and complex wounds treatment. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by the clinical staff on unit. Collaborate with the health care team and make referrals to other disciplines as indicated. Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families to prevent complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence problems. Develop, provide and evaluate staff education programs (e.g., new employee orientation, in-services, continuing education). Routinely provide comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures. Escalate and communicate challenges identified, including ethical issues and conflict resolution considerations. Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to initiate and recommend best practices based on prudent assessments. Participate in Unit/Department Quality Improvement and Hospital-wide Q.I activities (e.g., incidence, prevalence studies and nursing quality). Provide culturally competent patient, family and staff education aligned with cultural, ethnic, religious and other belief systems. Maintain security and confidentiality of data and information in accordance with patient rights policies. Strive for professional competency by engaging in activities consistent with clinical practice and population served. Identify available community resources, refer and assist clients in utilizing such resources. Asset management related to rented equipment (e.g., specialty beds, and Negative Pressure Devices). Qualifications
Education: Associate Degree (ASN, ADN) from an accredited Nursing Program. Licensure: New York State RN License; Primary Source Verification of License and Registration from NYS Department of Education (NYSED). Certifications: AHA BLS; one of the following WOC-related certifications approved by WOCNCB or ABWM or NAWCO as listed: CWOCN, CWON, CWCN, CWS, WCC.
