Job Type: PRN | Shift: Evening

Summary Description The Nurse Extern II (NE II) is a member of the patient care services team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi‑skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. The NE II works under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) who delegates tasks based on patient needs and the NE II’s skills and abilities. The NE II reports all deviations from expected patient parameters to the RN. Specific patient care tasks may vary by unit or service line based on the patient population. The NE II will be assigned to an experienced RN each shift and assist with patient care such as ADLs, vitals, ambulation, and other duties within the scope of a patient care tech or equivalent. The RN instructs and mentors the NE II in the assigned clinical area and provides ongoing feedback.

Responsibilities

Work under RN supervision and complete delegated tasks.

Report any patient parameter deviations to the RN.

Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).

Monitor and record vitals.

Help with patient ambulation and transfer.

Perform tasks within the scope of a patient care tech or equivalent.

Qualifications

Enroll in an accredited nursing program and be up to 6 months before graduation.

Pass all senior nursing courses.

Will work as an NE II under RN mentorship.

Prepared to work nights, evenings via PRN shifts.

No prior RN licensure required.
