Nurse Epidemiologist - RN - Days - Weill Cornell
Join the team at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where infection prevention and control drives patient safety. This role assists with the coordination and implementation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program, monitors communicable disease cases, collects, analyzes and reports surveillance data, and implements preventive measures.
Responsibilities
Assist in the coordination and implementation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
Monitor cases of communicable diseases, healthcare‑associated infections, and epidemiologically significant organisms.
Collect, analyze, and report on surveillance data to ensure regulatory compliance.
Identify and investigate potential outbreaks; implement appropriate prevention and control measures.
Provide consultation services to departments, partnering with staff nurses, nursing leaders and physicians.
Regularly evaluate the program and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
Preferred Criteria
Master’s degree in nursing or related field (BSN preferred if master’s in nursing).
Certification from the Certification Board for Infection Control & Epidemiology.
3 years’ experience in bedside nursing (critical care preferred).
2 years acute care experience.
Infection control experience.
Required Criteria
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
NYS RN license.
Ability to take certification examination after 2 years or less of employment.
3-5 years of clinical experience.
Salary & Benefits Salary Range: $141,800–$169,000 Annual. Benefits include competitive base pay, recognition, opportunities for professional growth, and a dynamic environment.
Location Weill Cornell Medical Center. Position is Monday‑Friday, 9 AM‑5 PM with schedule flexibility.
