Job Summary Radiology Technologist

UC Davis Health . Under general supervision, this position will provide technical knowledge and coordinate delivery of radiological services for adult and pediatric outpatients. The incumbent operates x‑ray equipment, Dexa equipment, and auxiliary equipment to provide diagnostic images for radiologists. Quality of work is approved or reviewed by the quality control technologist, chief technologist, or radiologist. The technologist must comply with department protocols, UCDH policies, and all applicable regulations. Responsibilities include acting with initiative, maintaining maximum imaging quality, and working calmly in stressful situations with radiologists, clinicians, and peers. The position may be performed at the Main Hospital, Ambulatory Care Center, Same Day Surgery Center, or satellite facilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)

CA Fluoroscopic Permit (required 6 months after hire date)

American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR certification

No minimum education or work experience required

Knowledge and ability to operate imaging equipment to provide quality images and adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades

Knowledge of diagnostic principles, patient care, and treatment options

Understanding of physical principles, laws, and applications (fluid dynamics, material properties, etc.)

Competent with PACS system archiving and retrieval

Ability to administer CPR

Ability to apply common sense and good judgment in following rules, protocols, policies, and procedures

Critical thinking and logical reasoning skills

Ability to remain calm under multiple directions and work volume fluctuations

Ability to handle high patient volume in a high‑pressure department with constantly changing priorities

Proficiency with RIS and IS access codes, security, and privacy

Skill in maneuvering portable radiology equipment in tight or limited‑access areas

Ability to react quickly and knowledgeably in emergency situations

Maintain confidentiality of patient records and information

Flexible scheduling to accommodate patient care needs

Work in areas with ionizing radiation or high magnetic fields

Effectively convey instructions, directions, and information

Demonstrate responsibility and dependability (attendance, punctuality, etc.)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with clear and concise documentation and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

American Register of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) preferred

Work Environment UC Davis is a smoke‑ and tobacco‑free campus. Employees must work variable hours, alternate shifts, and occasional overtime to provide coverage as needed.
