Senior Student Account Associate, Student Billing

Overview
In the heart of the nation's capital, with additional programs in Virginia, George Washington University (GW) was created by an Act of Congress in 1821. GW offers undergraduate and graduate programs across liberal arts, medicine, public health, law, engineering, education, business, and international affairs. The University enrolls a diverse student population and seeks employees who support its teaching, research, and public service mission. The Student Accounts Office handles billing, collection operations, and customer support for the student population. The Sr. Student Account Associate, Student Billing reports to the Assistant Director, Student Accounts. Responsibilities include the duties described below: Responsible for the monthly invoicing of student account charges and balances; ensure accuracy of charges. Knowledge of Title IV regulations is used as it relates to the payment of institutional charges. Assist the Assistant Director, Student Accounts, in maintaining billing rate tables and billing rules by testing scenarios and validating expected results. Review and validate overnight processes that post transactions to student accounts and identify errors; proactively audit accounts to ensure issues are reviewed and corrected. Manage tuition charges due to registration changes, particularly after the start of the semester. Manage returned payment processing. Support tax form preparation and customer support. Collaborate with other units to ensure compliance with university policies, identify process improvements, and promote continuous improvement. Provide Tier 2 level customer support for inquiries escalated from the call center. Perform other related duties as assigned and respond to related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated analytical experience in a complex billing environment. Experience in accounting or bookkeeping, specifically accounts receivable, is a plus. Customer service experience with external and internal customers is valued. Knowledge of Federal Title IV regulations as they relate to student aid and refunds is strongly desired. Experience working with a large Enterprise Resource Planning system is preferred.
