Overview Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) powers our cloud services. Our infrastructure comprises a large global portfolio of more than one hundred datacenters and one million servers. Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) team is responsible for improving overall availability and efficiency for Microsoft’s cloud business, focusing on datacenter performance, power, water, and labor utilization.

Responsibilities

Core Focus: Manage and evaluate the logistics operations of multiple distribution centers across North and South America, aligning operations and improving key performance indicators (KPIs) at scale.

Measure Success: Manage processes, cadence, rhythm, throughput, and capacity standards of off-site locations. Quantify and communicate the business value created through distribution and fulfillment operations, including measurable impact on cost, cycle time, and carbon emissions.

Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and act on opportunities to further develop logistics operations. Evaluate and drive improvement across third‑party or contracted logistics providers, assessing the impact of changes and systems enhancements to minimize risks while optimizing performance.

Benchmarking: Conduct competitive analysis on integrated logistics with benchmarks for the industry. Independently seek out market insights and best practices. Use these insights to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Vendor Management: Lead third‑party carrier and warehouse management processes, such as selection, qualification, performance evaluation, and risk assessment. Set operational standards, define best practices, and ensure compliance.

Strategic Collaboration: Lead long‑term strategic alignment with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Develop network design flow and models, leveraging expertise with network optimization, modeling, and simulation tools. Establish continuity plans for strategic and operational success.

Qualifications

4+ years of experience managing operational logistics, inclusive of domestic transportation, international transportation/customs compliance, and warehouse operations within North and South America.

4+ years of experience managing third‑party vendors for transportation and warehousing services.

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, or related field AND 4+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, operations‑related roles, or engineering OR equivalent experience.

Experience setting up and managing industry standard transportation management systems (TMS).

Preferred Qualifications

4+ years experience in Cloud Infrastructure/High Tech logistics and distribution.

6+ years experience managing operational logistics, inclusive of domestic transportation, international transportation/customs compliance, and warehouse operations.

6+ years managing third‑party vendors for transportation and warehousing services.

Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, or operations‑related roles OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, or operations‑related roles OR equivalent experience.

Experience setting up and managing industry standard warehouse management systems (WMS).

Background Check Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. The position requires passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Fulfillment & Logistics IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 – $188,400 per year. In the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is USD $123,500 – $206,400 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
