Overview The Digital Content Creator reports to the Director of Editorial Content and is responsible for developing and producing engaging, high-impact content across our social media platforms. The role works in partnership with the writing and multimedia teams to create impactful content on an aggressive schedule.

Essential Job Duties

Plan, create, and produce original digital content (video, photography, motion graphics, short‑form storytelling) for platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn to highlight student, alumni, faculty success stories, campus life, and innovations on campus.

Review and edit content for accuracy, clarity, and grammar before publication.

Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and digital storytelling best practices, bringing new creative ideas to life.

Manage end‑to‑end content production from concept development to filming, editing, and post‑production in partnership with MarComms team members and the college’s production team.

Develop and implement content strategies that align with marketing and college objectives.

Participate in content strategy sessions and brainstorms that support larger institutional goals—including brand awareness, student/faculty/staff recruitment, and stakeholder engagement.

Monitor engagement and performance metrics to optimize content effectiveness and inform future campaigns.

Actively contribute to growing the college’s digital presence and voice with authenticity, relevance, and creativity, targeting content to specific audiences and focusing on trending topics.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Media, Communications, Film, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field (required).

2+ years of experience in digital content creation, preferably in higher education, the creative industry, or an agency setting (required).

Experience in higher education or working with key audiences (preferred).

Advanced proficiency with content creation tools, including Adobe Creative Suite and mobile‑first editing apps (required).

Experience with content scheduling, analytics tools, and platform‑native insights (required).

Portfolio demonstrating a variety of social media projects and digital storytelling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of content formats and engagement strategies across social media platforms.

Demonstrated ability to develop compelling visual stories aligned with brand identity and strategic goals.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital media.

Familiarity with livestreaming, podcasting, or interactive content formats.

Strategic thinking and a deep understanding of the digital media landscape.

Skilled visual communicator.

Physical Abilities

Requires ability to lift and move light objects.

Requires ability to move materials occasionally.

Work Environment

Usual office conditions.

Compensation & Benefits Compensation: $27.50–$33.75 hourly, commensurate with experience.

Benefits include outstanding health plans with limited out‑of‑pocket expenses, dental plans, generous time‑off programs, a 403(b) retirement benefit with a 9% employer contribution when eligible, and additional benefits such as life and disability coverage and commuter offerings.

Union Representation This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for wages, hours, and other employment terms.
