Job Summary The
Data Scientist
is part of the CDX Advanced Analytics team at the Analytics Center of Excellence and plays a key role in building and maintaining machine learning models and AI solutions. The role involves understanding business needs, running methodical machine learning experiments, evaluating alternate models, and translating analytic findings into actionable solutions for students enrolled in Adtalem’s various programs.
Responsibilities
Select and manage features; build and optimize classifiers using machine learning techniques.
Perform data mining using state‑of‑the‑art methods.
Leverage third‑party sources of information to enhance data models.
Analyze the integrity of data used for analysis and models.
Support the Senior Data Scientist in identifying analytic needs and requirements of the institutions, including root‑cause/regression analyses, benchmarking, financial impact assessments, and external market analyses.
Work within cross‑functional and cross‑institution project teams to solve business problems.
Translate analytic findings into simple, actionable, and practical solutions and recommendations.
Synthesize recommendations into management‑ready presentations with recommended actions.
Complete other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
BS or MS degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related technical field.
Management consulting/professional service experience.
Advanced analytics/machine learning work experience.
Experience with agentic workflows and GenAI in Data Science product solutions.
Strong data‑orientation with the ability to process ambiguous and/or conflicting data or information to create “one version of the truth.”
Ability to work in a dynamic and cross‑functional environment with competing objectives.
Superior written and verbal communication skills, including influencing and consensus building.
Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms (Decision Trees, RF, XGBoost, LightGBM, etc.).
Proficiency in Python or R.
Proficiency in SQL query languages.
Experience with GCP, BigQuery, SQL Server, PowerBI, etc.
Experience in pricing modeling, revenue optimization, or similar analytical use cases is highly preferred.
Good applied statistics skills (distributions, statistical testing, regression).
Good scripting and programming skills.
Collaborative coding experience and competency with Git.
