Overview

Customers run their businesses on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) cloud, leveraging an expanding set of cloud-based services such as security, networking, compute, storage, and database. OCI's Block Volumes service operates at massive scale, delivering exabytes of data across 60+ regions. As part of the OCI storage performance team, you will focus on improving storage performance for object, file, and block implementations. In this role, you will act as a performance analyst, engaging functional subject matter experts on new designs and analysis of cloud performance issues. Responsibilities

Lead the design and execution of comprehensive benchmarks to evaluate the performance of our storage services including I/O operations, throughput, latency and scalability. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our storage architecture, networking, and cloud architecture. Analyze and troubleshoot performance issues in software applications and systems, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Analyze benchmark results, identify trends, and provide insights to drive storage performance improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and areas of improvement and provide actionable recommendations. Work with product management teams to develop performance metrics that meet customer requirements. Analyze benchmark results to identify trends and develop insights for improvement. Develop and maintain benchmarking tools and scripts to automate testing and analysis. Monitor and analyze storage performance using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and other monitoring solutions. Create and maintain application profiles to simulate real-world workloads and test storage performance under various scenarios. Requirements

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required. 6-10 years of experience in storage systems, database performance, and benchmarking. Experience with distributed storage systems. Strong background in storage systems, file systems, and architectures (SAN, NAS, DAS). Experience with benchmarking tools such as FIO, CrystalDiskMark, IOzone, MLPerf, VDBench, HammerDB, SysBench, etc. Strong programming experience (5+ years) with a focus on Python, Go, C/C++, or Java. Strong understanding of CPU architectures and networking fundamentals. Knowledge of Linux system internals and storage protocols like iSCSI, NVMe-oF, NFS, SMB. Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible. Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong leadership and mentoring skills. Ability to identify performance issues, determine root causes, and propose solutions. Nice to Have

Experience with cloud storage services such as OCI, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Strong SQL skills and database performance tuning. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Experience with application profiling and workload simulation. Knowledge of OS virtualization constructs like para-virtualization and SR-IOV. Disclaimer
