Overview

The Nursing Director is responsible for ongoing leadership and operations of a clinical department and for nursing care safety and quality. The Nursing Director uses sound human resource and financial management principles and techniques to guide the provision of nursing services to patients and families. The Nursing Director supports comprehensive patient and family services through effective participation with the interdisciplinary team. Unit/Area : 5 Sutherland (general medical/surgical unit) that cares for patients with renal failure and transplant, rehabilitation and liver failure and transplant specialties. Patients range from neonates to 18 years; occasionally young adults and adult kidney donors are treated. Location : Adele Hall Responsibilities

Provides leadership for nursing staff and the interdisciplinary patient care team to support high quality care of patients and families. Assures the personnel, workplace, and technology resources necessary for the provision of safe, high quality patient and family care. Leads the application of new knowledge and innovation to advance improvements at the department and organizational level. Utilizes financial data to effectively manage the department operating budget, plan capital expenditures, and formulate a business plan for new programs or services. Qualifications

Bachelor\'s Degree BSN required with 5–7 years of clinical nursing experience and progressive leadership roles OR a Master\'s Degree in nursing may be accepted in lieu of a BSN. RN license required: MO or KS (Multistate license), or RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO; licensure required upon hire per policy. Life Support Certifications required upon hire (refer to policy). Specialty Certification required (by December 2014) upon hire. Immunizations and Exemptions
