As we prepare for a new era of growth, we are seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help lead NAMHS into its next chapter.
Position Overview The COO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing both clinical and administrative operations across NAMHS. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep operational expertise, a passion for healthcare, and a track record of scaling organizations for long-term success. The COO will work closely with the CEO to execute NAMHS’s growth strategy, expand our footprint, and ensure operational excellence, compliance, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
Oversee daily operations of all clinical and non-clinical departments, ensuring high performance and alignment with NAMHS’s mission.
Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and senior managers across HR, finance, compliance, clinical services, and business operations.
Implement operational systems, processes, and best practices that improve efficiency and quality of care.
Strategic Growth & Expansion
Partner with the CEO to develop and execute multi-year growth strategies, including expansion in state and potential out-of-state markets.
Identify and evaluate new service lines, partnerships, and geographic markets.
Ensure successful integration of new locations and services into the NAMHS operational model.
Compliance & Quality
Maintain rigorous compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including healthcare and behavioral health standards.
Develop and oversee quality improvement initiatives to ensure consistent, exceptional care delivery.
Proactively manage operational risk and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Collaborate with the CFO and finance team to create and manage budgets, forecast growth, and monitor operational costs.
Drive initiatives that balance cost efficiency with quality and employee satisfaction.
Culture & Team Development
Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven culture across all NAMHS locations.
Champion professional development, succession planning, and leadership training programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations; behavioral health experience required.
Demonstrated success in scaling multi-site healthcare organizations.
Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance, accreditation standards, and quality improvement processes.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
This position is based onsite at our Redding, CA headquarters.
Hybrid or remote flexibility may be considered for the ideal candidate.
Occasional travel required for site visits, expansion projects, and leadership meetings.
