Job Summary
Chartwells Higher Education is hiring a
WAREHOUSE MANAGER
to lead the operations of our food service storage facility (ATHLETICS) on the campus of the University of Houston. The ideal candidate will be personable and detail-oriented, with strong people-management, organizational, and influencing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of the Athletics warehouse, including receiving, storage, organization, and distribution of food and non-food items. Collaborate closely with chefs and culinary teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to kitchen and event locations. Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy. Verify all incoming deliveries for quality, quantity, and accuracy against purchase orders and invoices. Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, surpluses, or substitutions with the culinary team. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment in compliance with university and health department standards. Oversee product rotation to ensure proper FIFO (First In, First Out) practices and minimize waste. Coordinate with vendors and purchasing teams regarding order discrepancies, returns, or special requests. Support event logistics by preparing and staging products and equipment for athletic events, catering, and special functions. Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) safely and maintain equipment in good working condition. Train and lead warehouse assistants or student workers as needed. Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for receiving, storage, and distribution.
Skills and Experience
2+ years in a warehouse/purchasing managerial role Operational experience in food and beverage is preferred High level of computer literacy Passion for hospitality, food, and retail Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
