Responsibilities Gulfport Behavioral Health System, a UHS facility, is a 90‑bed psychiatric hospital offering child, adolescent, adult, and military service behavioral health programs and treatment services.
Position Summary The
Psychiatrist
provides treatment for clients in collaboration with the clinical treatment team. Identifies client treatment needs, provides medication assessments and adjustments, and performs utilization review as needed. Responsible for assessments, treatment planning, psychopharmacological treatment and collaboration with providers to ensure that quality medical/psychiatric care is provided to all patients.
Requirements Education : Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine supplemented by completion of psychiatric residency training. Board certification or eligibility for Board Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry or Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry.
Experience : Professional experience of one (1) year in a psychiatric health‑care facility preferred.
Licensure : Current license by the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure.
Knowledge of : General medicine and psychiatry; current developments in the field of psychiatry; hospital and clinic organization, management, and procedures.
Ability to : skillfully diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients; analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action; prepare records and reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; maintain objectivity.
