Litigation Associate – The Law Firm of J.W. Stafford, LLC Location:

Columbia, MD (with a new D.C. office opening soon!)

Compensation:

Base pay range $105,000 – $130,000 per year, plus annual bonus, performance-based bonuses and 401(k) with matching.

Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for a Litigation Associate with at least 3 years of complex litigation experience

who is excited to take ownership of cases, grow quickly, and help shape the future of our expanding firm.

Employment law experience is a plus, but we’re more interested in your drive, curiosity, and commitment to excellence.

What You’ll Do

Represent clients in federal and state courts and before agencies such as the EEOC, MSPB, and professional boards.

Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.

Advise clients on employment law and professional discipline matters.

Handle mediations, negotiations, and court appearances.

Participate in depositions and trials.

Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership (e.g., blogs, webinars, CLEs).

Meet a 1,700‑hour billable target while maintaining balance and professional growth.

What We’re Looking For Required:

3+ years of complex litigation experience (employment law a plus).

Maryland Bar License and D.C. Bar License.

Excellent legal writing and analytical skills.

Strong communication and client‑relations abilities.

Preferred:

Journal or moot court experience.

Experience with federal employee representation (EEOC, MSPB).

Familiarity with Title VII, ADA, FMLA, Rehabilitation Act, and FLSA.

Experience litigating in federal court and handling summary judgment motions.

Taken or first‑chaired at least one deposition.
