As a Senior Data Engineering Lead within the Intelligent Foundations & Experiences (IFX) team, you will play a pivotal role in transforming Capital One’s technology landscape. This dynamic team is focused on advancing cutting-edge solutions that empower our associates and more than 100 million customers.
What You Will Be Doing:
Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support full-stack technical solutions.
Guide and mentor a team of developers in machine learning, microservices, and full-stack systems.
Utilize programming languages such as Java, Scala, and Python along with RDBMS and NoSQL databases, and leverage cloud-based data warehousing like Redshift and Snowflake.
Stay updated on technology trends, explore and experiment with new technologies, and actively participate in tech communities.
Partner with product managers to create robust cloud-based solutions that promote financial empowerment for millions.
Conduct unit testing and code reviews ensuring your code is designed optimally and performs efficiently.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree
6+ years of application development experience (excluding internships)
2+ years of experience with big data technologies
1+ year of cloud computing experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree
9+ years of application development experience, particularly with Python, SQL, Scala, or Java
4+ years public cloud experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
5+ years using distributed data/computing tools (e.g., MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark)
4+ years working with real-time data and streaming applications
4+ years of NoSQL implementation experience (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
4+ years of data warehousing experience with Redshift or Snowflake
4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux and Shell Scripting
2+ years of experience in Agile engineering practices
