As a Senior Lead Data Engineering Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in driving transformative initiatives at Capital One.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support comprehensive technical solutions utilizing a range of development tools and technologies.
Lead a talented team of developers proficient in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems.
Leverage programming languages such as Java, Scala, and Python alongside Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, as well as cloud-based data warehousing solutions like Redshift and Snowflake.
Stay updated with technology trends; actively experiment with and learn new technologies, and mentor fellow engineering community members.
Collaborate closely with digital product managers to deliver impactful cloud-based solutions that empower millions to achieve their financial goals.
Conduct thorough unit tests and code reviews with team members to ensure high standards of design, performance, and coding excellence.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in application development (internship experience not included).
At least 2 years of experience in big data technologies.
1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree.
9+ years of experience in application development with expertise in Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
4+ years of experience with public cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
5+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL).
4+ years of experience working on real-time data and streaming applications.
4+ years of experience with NoSQL databases (Mongo, Cassandra).
4+ years of experience in data warehousing solutions (Redshift or Snowflake).
4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting.
2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices.

This position is based in McLean, VA and the salary range for this role is $225,400 - $257,200 for Senior Lead Data Engineering Specialist. For candidates in Plano, TX or Richmond, VA, the salary range is $204,900 - $233,800.
