Clinical Instructor (RN) – Heart and Kidney Unit
Welcome to the Heart and Kidney Unit! The 20‑bed unit focuses on family‑centered care for children with cardiac and renal diseases, ranging from neonates through adults.
Base pay range: $89,752.00 – $149,593.60 per year.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care and serve as a "hands‑on" preceptor for nursing clinical fellows.
Directly supervise nursing clinical fellows and provide clinical orientation.
Develop and deliver individualized education plans for orientees using adult learning principles.
Plan and discuss patient and family education and discharge needs with orientees and staff.
Participate in competency training and post‑clinical conferences to document competence of each orientee.
Ensure patient safety by speaking up about unsafe behaviors and maintaining accurate documentation.
Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co‑workers.
Qualifications
BSN required.
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience; experience in care of children preferred.
Knowledge of legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, and CNMC policies.
Strong teaching and communication skills.
Ability to develop individualized education plans and plan learning experiences according to didactic sequence.
Location & Schedule
Primary location: District of Columbia – Washington, DC.
Work site: Children’s National Hospital – Main Campus.
Shift: Day.
Work schedule: 40 hours per week.
Position status: Regular (R).
