Senior Director, Global Program Leader – Oncology, Solid Tumors
Location: Boston, MA (Boston office – hybrid work option)
Base salary: $208,200 – $327,140 per year (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
Job Overview Takeda is seeking a seasoned executive to lead global oncology programs for solid tumor assets. The Senior Director will own the program strategy, execution, and global commercial launch from discovery to market, ensuring regulatory approval and patient access while driving value in line with Takeda’s values of Patient‑Trust‑Reputation‑Business.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute global portfolio strategy, including clinical, commercial, and life‑cycle management for one or more solid‑tumor assets.
Lead cross‑functional Global Program Teams (GPT), ensuring deliverables, budgets, timelines, and quality targets are met.
Collaborate with regulatory, commercial, manufacturing, and medical affairs to secure regulatory approvals and launch programs globally.
Develop and maintain program budgets, monitor variances, and report financial performance to senior leadership.
Assess and mitigate program risks, develop contingency plans, and communicate issues to executive management.
Engage with internal stakeholders (TAU, Franchise Leadership, Portfolio Office) and external partners to achieve business objectives.
Champion a culture of innovation, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement across the program life cycle.
Represent Takeda at industry events, and collaborate with external stakeholders to enhance the company’s reputation.
Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) or MBA; preferred an advanced degree in science or business.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including research & development and commercial operations.
8+ years of global, interdisciplinary, matrix‑team management experience.
Track record of leading successful oncology product lifecycles from discovery to launch.
Strong strategic vision, analytical credibility, execution skills, and stakeholder‑relationship management.
Ability to collaborate across functions and geographies, with excellent communication and decision‑making capabilities.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired.
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel up to 20‑25% of the time, including overnight and international trips as needed.
