Location: Patuxent River, MD

(Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, NAWCAD)

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead and conduct VH-92 developmental flight test operations in support of HX-21 at NAS Patuxent River.

Develop comprehensive test plans, detailed test procedures, and mission profiles for assigned flight test objectives.

Perform pre‑flight mission planning, conduct mission briefings, and execute functional check flights, developmental, and engineering test flights.

Collect and analyze flight test data, evaluate flight simulator device performance, and liaise with maintenance and engineering representatives.

Deliver thorough post‑flight debriefs, draft deficiency reports, and prepare formal documentation of results and recommendations.

Supervise and mentor KBR rotary‑wing aircrew supporting HX‑21 operations, ensuring safe and effective execution of assigned missions.

Participate in technical meetings, program reviews, and cross‑functional discussions to advance test objectives.

Support occasional training flights or test opportunities in other rotary‑wing aircraft as directed.

Travel as required in support of test activities at off‑site locations.

Basic Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required; active Top Secret clearance.

Graduate of a qualified Test Pilot School (e.g., U.S. Naval TPS, USAF TPS, Empire, EPNER).

Six (6) years of VH‑92 (primary) or H‑60 (alternate) experience, and at least two (2) years of RDT&E flight test experience.

Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours, including at least 150 hours in the VH‑92, H‑60, or similar rotary‑wing aircraft.

Past (required) or current (preferred) designation as a U.S. military rotary‑wing Aircraft Commander; current or former designation as a Category C (or equivalent) developmental test pilot and NATOPS Instructor Pilot.

Must pass FAA Class II flight physical and complete Navy water survival and aviation physiology training.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous HMX‑1 Aircraft Commander experience.

Experience supervising or mentoring junior aircrew in a flight test environment.

Familiarity with Navy/DoD developmental test organizations, processes, and reporting requirements.

Schedule and Compensation Weekly hours: 40 hours/week.

Basic salary: $155,000–$230,000 (based on location, skills, and experience).

Additional compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, sign‑on bonus, relocation benefits, short‑term and long‑term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
