VP Enterprise Risk Management & Compliance (ERMC) – Vice President Financial Partners Credit Union

Purpose of Job The Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management & Compliance (ERMC), is responsible for directing and overseeing the Credit Union’s ERMC program under the leadership of the Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). This role works closely with business units to establish, assess, and manage organizational risk levels and ensure appropriate internal controls. The VP develops, champions, and executes ERM and Compliance processes and infrastructure across the organization, objectively assesses and reports the Credit Union’s risk profile, drives necessary change, and ensures effective ERM tools and techniques are implemented.

Essential Responsibilities

Collaborate with business units and Senior Management to define and communicate the organization’s ERM vision, including setting risk tolerances and managing identified risk categories. Provide a structured, disciplined approach to closing significant gaps in risk management capabilities.

Evaluate and ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and recommend actions to maintain compliance and adapt to evolving requirements.

Advise management and officials on the operational impact of regulatory changes.

Oversee departmental budgeting, goal setting, performance management, staff meetings, and employee development.

Provide leadership to the ERMC team responsible for monitoring the organization’s overall risk profile. Support infrastructure for reporting, tracking, and resolving risk control deficiencies.

Develop and maintain risk management policies and procedures, supporting other control functions as needed.

Implement sustainable and efficient reporting processes for ongoing risk and compliance monitoring.

Partner with business unit leaders to develop and monitor action plans addressing identified risk gaps.

Direct the collection, analysis, and assessment of risk-related data from business units and support functions.

Establish and promote the use of ERM methodologies, tools, and techniques to enhance organizational risk management capabilities.

Advise managers on risk assessment, business risk decisions, and risk response strategies.

Serve as liaison with internal auditors and the Supervisory Committee.

Manage the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) program, ensuring compliance with BSA, OFAC, and USA Patriot Act requirements. Serve as the Credit Union’s BSA Officer.

Coordinate external and regulatory audits and examinations, including follow-up and management response reporting.

Interface with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and Credit Union officials as required.

Maintain the Credit Union’s bylaws, coordinating changes with regulatory agencies as needed.

Participate in meetings with Senior Management, the Supervisory Committee, and the Board of Directors, providing recommendations and resolutions as appropriate.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required; Master’s Degree in Business or Public Administration preferred.

Minimum of five years of audit experience within a financial institution.

Minimum of five years of management experience.

Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and their impact on risk management.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and database applications.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Professional certification is strongly preferred, such as CPA, CBA, CFE, NCCO, or equivalent. Candidates actively pursuing certification will also be considered.

Compensation The pay range for this position is $115,000.00–$200,000.00. Salary offers are based on individual experience, knowledge, skills, and education.
