Senior Grid & Market Settlements Analyst Grid & Market Operations Performance & Analytics processes market settlements and supports analytics development for operational strategies to optimize PGE’s energy portfolio and grid operations for strategic projects, including integration and optimization of energy supply and energy delivery assets in EIM and EDAM. Supports Real Time and Grid Operations by maintaining training that ensures management and staff training needs are identified, fulfilled, and documented concerning market settlement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Settlement Management:

Support the development and implementation of settlement processes, including configuration of charge codes and validation of settlement calculations to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with market rules for EIM and EDAM.

Risk Mitigation:

Identify, assess, and address risks related to metering and settlement processes. Implement controls and corrective actions to prevent errors impacting financial outcomes or regulatory compliance.

Stakeholder Coordination:

Serve as a point of contact for metering and settlement queries, working with internal teams, CAISO representatives, and other market participants to ensure alignment.

Compliance and Documentation:

Document and ensure compliance with CAISO’s regulatory framework. Maintain records of processes, changes, and validations.

Metering Oversight:

Support configuration and validation of metering systems for CAISO settlement activities, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with EDAM requirements. Oversee SQMD submissions.

Market Research:

Research market design and grid operations; analyze trends; report recommendations; follow EIM and EDAM rule changes to integrate into PGE systems.

Grid Operations:

Provide operational analyses, interpret operational impacts, identify process improvements, and develop operational strategies.

Subject Matter Expert:

Serve as a subject matter expert for enterprise-wide projects linking trading and grid operations; lead data strategy and cross-functional teams; provide training.

Analytic Tools:

Design, develop, and implement analytic tools for evaluating energy opportunities; build and maintain databases; train colleagues.

Communications and Presentations:

Develop reports and presentations on market and grid performance; present to management and stakeholders; conduct technical seminars.

External Relations:

Participate in forums, lead meetings with utilities and agencies, prepare regulatory filings, and represent PGE’s interests. Research and analyze energy regulations, ensure compliance, and train colleagues.

Education/Experience/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in IT, finance, business, economics, engineering, or related field. Typically eight+ years in the energy industry or related field. Experience in operational analytics preferred.

Competencies: Functional:

Knowledge of power generation, transmission, energy markets, trading, policies, and infrastructure. Skills in market analysis, statistics, grid reliability, and programming languages such as VB/VBA, C, Perl, Matlab, Python, Java, SQL.

General:

Analytical thinking, business acumen, decision-making, interpersonal, presentation, problem-solving, communication skills.

Physical and Cognitive Demands: Ability to adhere to response times, work under stress, collaborate, process information, and adapt to change.

Schedule/Attendance: Must meet attendance standards, work long hours, variable schedules, and during inclement weather.

Compensation Range: $89,175.00 - $178,375.00. Actual total compensation depends on experience, skills, and qualifications.
