Human Resources Assistant

The Human Resources Assistant provides vital administrative support to the HR department, including onboarding, employee records management, and administrative support. This role serves as a resource for employees by responding to general HR inquiries, while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with company policies. The HR Assistant also has responsibility for administration at the front desk, including greeting visitors & assigning badges as well as answering general phone calls.
Essential Functions
Schedules phone screens and interviews, and coordinates logistics and follow up for on-site interviews; may conduct initial phone screening or make follow-up status calls
Creates new employee badges; may manage user access in security access control system
Assists with management of temporary employees assigned to the workplace by communicating with agencies, coordinating orientation & orientation; may manage collection & submission of timecards to agencies and reconcile billing from agencies
Schedules and monitors pre-employment screening providing timely updates to managers to expedite new hire start dates
Efficiently and accurately documents candidate activity in the HRIS/ATS system
Promote a safe and compliant workplace by supporting safety initiatives and maintaining related documentation
Professionally greets visitors and ensures badge assignment and other visitor-related security measures are consistently enforced; may generate employee badges and support new employee setup and onboarding/orientation
Answers, appropriately screens, and routes phone calls promptly and in a courteous, professional manner
Responds politely and professionally to employee inquiries, providing instructions, resources, or other information as required
Assists with event coordination as needed; assists with coordination of employee engagement, training, and other internal group activities; coordinates food and beverage order, pickup/delivery and setup/cleanup as needed for various internal meetings
Maintains employee information center/bulletin boards with timely information; may assist with preparation and distribution of employee newsletters and other communications
May make travel arrangements and prepare/review expense reports
Maintains appropriate inventory of office and other supplies, placing orders or making in-person purchases as appropriate; establishes and maintains relationships with vendors and vendor programs
Utilizes personal vehicle (mileage to be reimbursed) to travel between Athens area locations and to pick up and deliver supplies as needed; may make bank deposits
Performs other duties as assigned
Regular attendance on-site at the work location is required
Required Education And Experience
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required; Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field with significant coursework in Human Resources is preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in an HR or Talent Acquisition role is required. Experience in manufacturing industry is preferred.
Experience utilizing a comprehensive HRIS/ATS system with multiple sites/organizational locations is preferred.

Communication skills to effectively and professionally exchange and present information (English)

Self-management skills including initiative, efficiency, sense of urgency, ability to adapt and respond to unexpected circumstances, and ability to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines
Friendly and professional verbal and written communication skills (English)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and advanced intermediate skills using Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record is required
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer
Regularly stand and walk
Occasionally climb steps or stairs
Constantly communicate verbally and in writing (English) using a phone, texts or other messaging, and email
Use hands and fingers to operate computer keyboards, mouse, or other peripherals
Drives personal vehicle as needed to run errands and perform essential duties
