Interim Controller Responsibilities

Lead and manage day-to-day accounting operations in a CPG, wholesale distribution, or manufacturing environment.

Oversee and execute financial close processes (monthly, quarterly, and annual), including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, inventory costing, and revenue recognition requirements, particularly for COGS, bill of materials, and product margin analysis.

Establish and maintain strong internal controls over financial transactions, including documentation of accounting policies and cost controls.

Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Supply Chain, and business leaders to drive financial insights, process improvements, and system automation.

Support audit readiness and external audits, ensuring adherence to CPG industry regulations and best practices.

Requirements

5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on financial close and CPG/manufacturing industry experience.

CPA required (Big 4 or public accounting experience preferred).

Expertise in CPG accounting areas, including inventory accounting, standard costing, and gross margin analysis.

Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, inventory costing, and financial reporting requirements.

Ability to effectively communicate financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership.

Advanced proficiency in Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to work in a high-growth, fast-paced product environment, balancing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
