Job Summary Responsible for transcription of physicians’ orders under the supervision of a licensed nurse, performance of clerical and non‑nursing duties, and acts as information coordinator for a nursing unit. Incumbents are subject to overtime and call back as required by the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Transcribe physicians’ orders accurately and timely.
Perform clerical duties and coordinate information within the unit.
Assist nurses and other healthcare personnel as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent with proficiency in oral and written grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic mathematics.
Proficiency in medical terminology or completion of a medical terminology course within 6 months.
Knowledge of job content and requirements gained through on‑the‑job training and hospital procedures.
Physical ability to work in a safety‑sensitive environment, including exposure to biological hazards, fumes, odors, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 40 lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 250 lbs.
Ability to perform under supervision of licensed nursing staff.
