Akkodis is seeking a Workday Systems Administrator for a 1-year contract to contract-to-hire job opportunity with a direct client located in the New York City or Winston‑Salem, NC area.
This role will require you to work in the office 2-3 days per week from the start.
As a Workday Systems Administrator, you'll support a new implementation of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financials to replace our existing General Ledger (Great Plains) and HCM tools (ADP).
Rate Range:
$65-75/hr W2 based on experience, education, geographic location and other factors
Workday Systems Administrator - job responsibilities include:
Serve as a primary administrator for Workday HCM and Financials, ensuring system stability, security, and performance
Will support a new implementation of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financials to replace our existing General Ledger (Great Plains) and HCM tools (ADP).
Importantly, this position will start prior to Workday go‑live, giving the administrator the opportunity to help prepare the organization, understand the environment, participate in knowledge transfer, and be ready to take ownership once the system is live.
Support and optimize our platform across both modules, including expenses.
Will focus on day‑to‑day Workday systems administration, including configuration, reporting, and user‑support. The administrator will also have limited access to an Application Management Services (AMS) partner for escalations and complex requests but is expected to handle ongoing operations and business needs directly.
Manage configuration changes, business processes, security roles, and integrations across Workday modules
Partner with HR, Finance, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and implement system enhancements
Support system upgrades, testing, and release management activities
Troubleshoot issues, manage support tickets, and coordinate with Workday AMS or vendors for escalated/complex items
Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytics to support business decision‑making
Ensure compliance with internal controls, data governance, and security standards
Participate in implementation activities, knowledge transfer sessions, and pre‑go‑live readiness work.
Document processes and train end users as needed
Qualifications Required:
3+ years of Workday system administration experience (HCM, Financials, or both) with strong, hands‑on experience administering Workday Payroll; exposure to both HCM and Financials needed to learn and support the full platform.
Hands‑on configuration experience with Workday business processes, security, and reporting
Strong understanding of HR and Finance business processes (e.g., payroll, recruiting, expenses, AP/AR, GL)
Experience supporting Workday integrations (file‑based, APIs, or middleware)
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into system solutions
Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across HR, Finance, and IT
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, HR/Finance, or related field
Workday certifications (HCM Core, Financials, or Reporting)
