Responsibilities

Investigates and determines scope, timing, and direction of crime and fraud investigations.

Supports all security functions to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Responsible for the safe de‑escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects.

Obtains and verifies evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses or by analyzing records.

Identifies case issues and evidence needed, based on analysis of charges, complaints, or allegations of policy/law violations.

Records evidence and documents, using equipment such as cameras, photocopy machines, electronic medical records, access control systems, etc.

Testifies in criminal justice proceedings concerning criminal activity investigations.

Conducts other security‑related functions as required by the chain of command.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Four (4) years general security, military or other public safety experience, with two (2) years of investigative experience.

Preference for two (2) years of experience in a related job where required to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty.

No licensure or certification required by law.

Required certifications within specified timeframes:

Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (IAHSS) and Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (IAHSS) within one year of hire.

Professional Certified Investigator (ASIS) within two years of hire.

Required to pass psychological screening during pre‑employment screening.

Required to take periodic call.

Required to travel up to 50% of time to Piedmont facilities across the System.

Preferred certifications:

Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (IAHSS).

BS/BA in healthcare management, business administration, criminal justice, or related fields.

Active Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification.

May be required to carry less lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or an expandable baton; and may be required to carry company‑approved firearm, maintaining all training requirements.
