Base pay range
$20.00/hr - $22.00/hr
Job Summary The EHS Technician plays a key administrative support role in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment at MICA Steelworks, Inc., a steel fabricator. This position assists the EH&S Programs Manager by managing documentation, coordinating training logistics, maintaining regulatory records, and supporting internal communications related to safety and environmental compliance. The role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a focus on administrative coordination rather than technical fieldwork.
Education & Experience
13 years of experience in an administrative or safety support role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.
Medium level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Entry level in basic safety knowledge and willingness to learn. Preferred but not required certified OSHA 10 or 30.
Qualifications
Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to employees.
Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on risk identification and compliance.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
Ability to pass a background check, including drug screening and physical examination.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation and maintenance of safety programs related to welding, grinding, metal cutting, and heavy equipment operation.
Assist with safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
Maintain safety records of employee safety training, inspection logs, certifications, and compliance reports.
Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
Ensure new‑hire safety orientation includes steel fabrication‑specific hazards.
Administer and track Return‑to‑Work programs for injured employees.
Maintain safety data sheets (SDS) and hazardous material inventory.
Serve as a point of contact for emergency response coordination and spill containment.
Collect and analyze data on safety performance and propose improvements.
Assist with special projects, as needed.
