as a College/ Career Readiness Specialist. The role is located in the Bronx, NY and offers a salary range of $48,000‑$60,000.

The Specialist will join a dedicated team that educates and assists the school population through the college application process. Responsibilities include communicating with students, faculty, parents, and community representatives about college entrance and career readiness.

Responsibilities

Support a caseload of seniors through the college application process, including brainstorming and editing essays, completing applications, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Develop and implement college transition and postsecondary programming for 12th grade seniors.

Guide students in grades 9-11 through the college and career exploration process, researching pre‑college summer programs and internships.

Provide direct individual and group college advisement.

Participate in regular meetings with school staff on college and career readiness.

Coordinate college visits and in‑school presentations by colleges and post‑secondary programs.

Act as liaison with college admission offices and develop deeper connections with institutions.

Assist with college fair organization and attendance, SAT preparation and registration, scholarship searches, financial aid workshops, and FAFSA/SEEK/HEOP/College Discovery program applications.

Manage a caseload of students and provide mentorship throughout the year.

Maintain relationships with admissions officers and attend professional development opportunities to stay current on college trends.

Plan outreach and meetings with alumni in collaboration with school leadership.

Participate in staff training, retreats, and professional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Social Sciences, Public or Education Policy Administration (MSW, M.Ed, MPA, etc.) a plus.

Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth and families; experience in a school setting a plus.

Minimum 1 year of experience collaborating with community‑based organizations to serve at‑risk youth.

Experience with postsecondary readiness programming, college and career exploration, assessments, goal‑setting, and curriculum.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to approach challenges supportively and creatively.

Excellent organizational skills.

Flexible schedule, willing to work school hours (8:00 AM–4:00 PM) and some weekends/evenings.

Bilingual Spanish preferred.
