Research Specialist – Waisman Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison The Waisman Center is dedicated to advancing knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases. The Social Kids Laboratory (Principal Investigator: Dr. Kristin Shutts, PhD) focuses on children's social cognitive development and conducts behavioral studies with children.

Job Summary:

The Research Specialist will provide assistance to all ongoing research projects and contribute to the development of new studies. The position will provide research support to the Principal Investigator, work with graduate and undergraduate students, and provide guidance on daily laboratory operations and management. The role offers an opportunity to present at conferences and co-author publications.

Key Responsibilities

Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and documents results for presentations and reporting to internal and external audiences.

Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials.

Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers.

Performs literature reviews and writes reports.

Conducts research experiments according to established protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results.

Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders.

Required Qualifications

Experience with human subjects research.

Experience working with children and families.

Undergraduate research experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Excellent communication skills.

Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.

Education A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a related field is highly preferred.

Compensation $45,000 minimum; salary is negotiable based on experience. Benefits include generous vacation, holidays, paid time off, competitive insurance and savings accounts, and retirement benefits.

Additional Information

A Criminal Background Check will be performed.

HIPAA training and certification required upon hire and annually thereafter.

Reporting requirements must be completed in a timely manner, including but not limited to effort reporting and outside activity reporting.
