Nature of Work Assist in the administration of project safety program to maintain a safe and healthy work environment

Education

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent work-related experience.

Depending on specific project, may require the following certifications: OSHA 500, OSHA 30 Hr, CHST, EM-385

Experience

2 years or more of related work experience preferred

Other work-related experience such as military, public service, on the job training programs, etc. may meet this requirement as determined by local management

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Oversee projects in various stages of construction, along with database development & maintenance for accident reporting & trend analysis

Conduct regular walk-through inspections of construction areas.

Identify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made.

Review and/or revise safety specifications and procedures in conformance with departmental policy and OSHA regulations.

Investigate personal injury and property damage accidents.

Analyze accident and incident reports for trends and make recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions. Investigate accidents to minimize recurrence and prepare accident reports.

Compile data, photographs, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with accidents.

Assist in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspectors on walk through tours. May accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.

Assist in issuing various entry permits (i.e. to confined spaces) as required.

Conduct routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections of company facilities.

Conduct various air sampling, such as gas, 02, noise test to insure safe working conditions.

Monitor and conduct routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections. Inspect company fire, safety, and environmental equipment and facilities for serviceability and compliance with established regulations, policies, and standards.

Assists, plans, & implements safety policies & procedures in compliance with local, state, & federal rules & regulations including Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) & Department of Transportation (DOT)

Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.

Promote the company safety culture and safety awareness throughout the company, projects, or office

Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record which, per Company’s vehicle policy, allows operation of a company vehicle.

Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn company software quickly

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Normal office environment with periods of time spent on construction sites and occupied customer facilities

Requires travel to job sites with periods of overnight travel

Frequent activity: sitting, viewing, and typing on computer screen

Occasional activity: standing, walking, bending, reaching above shoulder, climbing ladders

This position may be required to use a ladder and work at tall heights (i.e. roof top access ladders, scissor-lift, scaffolding)

Safety-sensitive position that requires extreme focus and attention to safety hazards and safety protocols
