Your Specific Responsibilities This position is detailed from Jefferson County Health Department to the headquarters Bureau of Epidemiology – Immunization Section. The incumbent works independently under supervision, providing evaluation, technical assistance, management, consultation, and coordination for a statewide immunization program. In an assigned geographic area with a large, diverse urban population, the employee assists in achieving state and national immunization objectives in accordance with federal grant requirements. The incumbent implements program activities, coordinates with county health department staff, state and child‑care agencies, managed‑care organizations, private health care providers, and provides clerical support. Reports are produced for the Bureau of Immunization, detailing progress, unmet goals, and plans to overcome barriers. Functions include information custody, security policy maintenance, staff supervision and development, and compliance with DH 1151 and DH 1155 delegations.
Enhanced Service Delivery – conducts quality assurance and improvement activities in public and private sectors, providing feedback on pediatric immunization standards, VFC compliance, and fostering program management improvement. Technical assistance is provided to immunization providers.
Assessments, Surveys and Audits – collects, compiles, and submits statistical data on immunization status for children and institutions, using results to pursue corrective action.
Immunization Information Systems – assists CHDs in implementing automated systems (Clinic Management System Immunization Module, Merlin, SHOTS), serves as resource for automation issues, and maintains knowledge of automated reporting systems.
Linkages with WIC and other Economic Assistance Programs – advises CHDs on integrating WIC with immunization services, supports WAGES legislation, and links immunization services with other health services.
Targeting Interventions toward "Pockets of Need" – identifies high‑risk geographic areas, measures coverage, and implements measures to achieve high coverage among high‑risk groups.
Linkages with Managed Care Organizations – collaborates with MCOs, MediPass Coordinators, and Medicaid Area Administrators to ensure ACIP recommendation compliance, supports VFC enrollment for private providers.
Training, Outreach and Community Education – develops training for professional and volunteer groups, supports coalitions, maintains public awareness, and serves as local resource for immunization questions.
Surveillance and Outbreak Control – assists in vaccine‑preventable disease surveillance, outbreak control, perinatal hepatitis B prevention, and VAERS follow‑up.
Vaccine Management – ensures less than 5% of state‑supplied vaccine is unaccounted for, maintains vaccine management policies, and develops accountability plans with CHDs.
Program Activity Management – manages implementation of immunization activities per the calendar and guidebook, supervises staff, analyzes reports, and sets reporting standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of the Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine‑Preventable Diseases
Knowledge of the Standards for Pediatric Immunization Practices
Knowledge of Florida Statutes pertaining to immunizations for enrollment or participation in school, child care, and public assistance programs
Knowledge of state and federal requirements related to the Vaccines for Children Program, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, and the use of Vaccine Information Statements
Knowledge of the state immunization registry
Knowledge of County Health Department Guidebook immunization policies and technical assistance
Ability to operate the Health Clinic Management System Immunization Module
Ability to conduct assessments using the Clinic Assessment Software Application
Ability to maintain the Perinatal Hepatitis B Registry
Ability to conduct vaccine inventories
Qualifications High School Diploma
