The successful candidate will place the student at the center of everything we do and participate in culturally relevant professional development to prepare for the student population at Madera Community College. Providing instruction in Instructional Design on the Madera Community College campus and/or at off-site locations, the instructor will be responsible for:

Teaching a full schedule of developmental and transfer level Instructional Design courses as assigned;

Collaborating with faculty and staff to plan, design, develop, and test new and revised courses and programs;

Partnering with the Distance Education Coordinator to ensure courses meet compliance and quality standards;

In collaboration with the Distance Education Coordinator, creating customized online training on best practices for online pedagogy for distance education;

Providing consultative support and training to faculty on instructional design, pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment design and evaluation, and integrating technology into curriculum and services;

Developing and delivering workshops and professional development sessions on instructional technologies and educational best practices;

Researching, evaluating, and assisting in the selection, testing, and implementation of hardware, software tools, and emerging technologies that enhance teaching and learning;

Developing and distributing learning materials in multiple formats to support instruction;

Creating and publishing user documentation for supported instructional technology tools;

Researching and identifying grant opportunities related to instruction, faculty support, and online programs;

Identifying instructional needs and recommending appropriate strategies;

Staying current with emerging instructional software, technologies, and pedagogical strategies by attending relevant conferences and seminars;

Providing training and support to faculty on accessibility standards and practices, including Universal Design for Learning and ADA Section 508 compliance;

Consulting and providing training in universal design for learning, instructional design principles, course design, and best practices in various modalities including face-to-face and distance education;

Providing training and support with the Learning Management System (Canvas);

Overseeing the multimedia studio, supporting faculty in creating instructional content through training, technical assistance, and project collaboration;

Participating in accreditation processes;

Serving on department, college, and district committees as needed;

Participating in program review, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning;

Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off-campus and large group instruction classes as needed;

Fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of faculty as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; and

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, related to equity-minded practice in the classroom.

Master’s in instructional design/technology or educational technology;

or

A valid California Community College Credential;

or

The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Desirable Qualifications

Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility;

Recent experience working with diverse student populations and an understanding of equity in higher education;

Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities;

Willingness to examine and remediate instructional and classroom practices to engage racially minoritized students;

Related work and professional experience;

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff;

Demonstrated ability to work with computers and technologies used in instruction and support;

Willingness to improve collegial relationships;

Experience interpreting student and instructor needs to produce effective instructional materials and technologies;

Demonstrated success in online instruction and/or certification in online instruction;

Proficiency with eLearning development tools (e.g., Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia, Panopto, Adobe Creative Suite) and multimedia software;

Experience with Interactive Videoconferencing Classrooms and related technology;

Work experience in instructional design and instructional technology in higher education;

Strong presentation and demonstration skills;

Experience managing a multimedia studio to aid faculty in content creation;

Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.

Conditions of Employment 178 duty days per year. Duty days will be prorated based on start of assignment.

Salary and Benefits Starting annual salary is $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience. An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. The District offers medical, dental, and vision coverage for employee and dependents, life insurance, and CalSTRS retirement.
