Overview

The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for leading and facilitating classroom activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in a classroom of young children between the ages of three and five. Duties include actively engaging with children to foster a positive learning environment, maintaining a safe, secure, and stimulating classroom while developing supportive family relationships. Early Childhood Teacher Certification (Formally Group Leader Qualified) OR ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated teaching ability Proficiency in computer applications Positive driving motor vehicle (DMV) record, proof of current automobile insurance coverage, and a copy of a valid driver's license Basic Life Support and First Aid within 60 days of employment Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Family and Child Development or Child Psychology OR Current Level Three Early Childhood Professional Credential OR Two (2) three-credit courses from a regionally accredited college or university, including Introduction to Early Childhood Education (ECE 101) Bi-lingual in Spanish Essential Functions

Ensure classroom adheres to Colorado Department of Early Childhood, Colorado Shines, and State Licensing requirements and guidelines. Incorporate principles of child development and education into age-appropriate activities; regularly observe and document student progress. Guide children in cognitive, language, social-emotional development, and fine and gross motor skills. Model trauma-informed care to establish and maintain strong relationships and respond to children's needs. Show awareness and appreciation for cultural differences among children, families, and caregivers; respond in a respectful and professional manner. Facilitate play and engagement, providing appropriate supervision at all times. Facilitate family engagement opportunities and provide educational information, resources, and recommendations to families. Demonstrate effective interpersonal relations and communication with coworkers, children, and families. May float to other classrooms within scope and qualifications based on business needs or adjust schedules as required. Satisfy all Intermountain Health requirements and perform other duties as assigned. Skills

Ongoing ability to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent verbal communication with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors; ability to hear and understand information quickly and accurately. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; ability to perform crisis prevention techniques when necessary; physical capabilities include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, kneeling, crouching, running or crawling as required.
