Overview This position is responsible for generating and processing payroll tax payments and returns, and performing the underlying functions as directed by Payroll Tax Supervisor.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Assists in the process of exporting/importing payroll taxes from Lawson software into Workday software in preparation for paying and filing taxes.

Reviews and reconciles weekly and monthly tax payments.

Reports tax payments to appropriate departments.

Processes timely quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns.

Scans and files payroll tax returns.

Assists in set-up of State and local taxes, entering of new tax rates/filing frequencies for entities as needed.

Assists with the preparation and generation of W-2’s to tax agencies at year-end.

Researches and responds to tax notices from agencies.

Prepares registrations for withholding, unemployment, and other applicable accounts for companies entering new states of business.

Completes special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Keeps abreast of changes/developments regarding payroll taxes and the governing state and federal rules/laws.

Process all agency notices pertaining to Payroll Taxes

Requirements Qualifications / Experience

Two (2) year accounting degree preferred;

Three to five years of previous payroll tax experience, preferably with multi-state tax setting; or three to five years of previous payroll experience, preferably in a 1000+ employee setting;

Excellent computer skills (spreadsheet, HR/PR systems, i.e. Lawson, Workday);

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);

Excellent quantitative and analytical skills; and

Excellent organizational skills.

Physical / Environmental Demands

Job performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting;

Occasional lifting/carrying (10 pounds or less);

Prolonged sitting; and

Prolonged work on a computer/PC.

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. It may also require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime or more than five days per week.
