Position Summary: Supports financial operations for the School of Dentistry, ensuring accurate billing, insurance coverage, and patient financial assistance. Works with scheduling, billing, collections, third‑party vendors, and faculty to optimize financial processes.
Department‑Specific Responsibilities
Contact patients to resolve insurance coverage discrepancies and provide financial security for scheduled services.
Review and verify insurance eligibility.
Provide financial assistance and education upon patient request.
Explain insurance coverage, benefits, and liability to patients.
Collaborate closely with scheduling, billing, collections, and third‑party vendors.
Explain payment options and determine payment plan details for self‑pay balances.
Meet with patients to review pre‑ or post‑service billing concerns and address complaints.
General Responsibilities
Handle daily and long‑term financial and administrative tasks for an academic department.
Make recommendations on policies and guidelines for division activities.
Monitor expenditures and statements of account for regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
Manage appropriation, endowment, federal/non‑federal grants, contracts, and gift funds.
Develop, plan, and recommend special projects including space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, and long‑range plans.
Prepare operating and project budget drafts independently or with finance staff, explaining financial concepts to non‑financial employees.
Monitor departmental budgets, resolve or recommend resolutions for significant deviations.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.
Preferred:
Relevant experience.
Skills and Qualifications
Proficient written and verbal communication.
Professional demeanor and high quality commitment.
Time management and priority setting.
Flexibility in a fast‑paced environment.
Basic technology proficiency; experience with electronic platforms.

This role requires effective communication and operation of standard office equipment. The position involves sedentary work and occasional movement around office and campus. Accommodations are available.
Compensation $45,000 – $49,000 annually, based on experience.
