The laboratory of Derek Sant'Angelo is in search of a Post-Doctoral fellow to join their lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design and perform experiments. Analyze, interpret and discuss experimental data with PI and other members of the lab.
Generate figures, write manuscripts/reviews and help with grant applications.
Help train and mentor junior scientists in the lab.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Strong research background in immunology, molecular biology (RNA‑seq, scRNA‑seq, ATAC‑seq) or a related field.
Experience with genetically engineered mouse models and/or experience working with primary cells, including retroviral transduction.
Evidence of successful completion of a research project (publications).
Ability to work independently; interpret, present, and discuss experimental data.
Excellent communications skills.
This will be a minimum one‑year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annual reviews.
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a Post‑Doctoral Fellow at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD or MD/PhD (or equivalent) in biological sciences.
Preferred experience in immunology.
This is a restricted position with no set end date; continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
VCU is committed to hiring veterans! VCU will include a veteran's period(s) of military service in the calculation of their annual leave accrual rate. This may provide veterans with an increased leave accrual.
Salary Range:
Commensurate with Experience starting at $62,232
